TBEC names its 2009 Honor Roll - 254 schools in Texas (based on TAKS commended scores)

The Texas Business & Education Coalition was formed by Texas business leaders in 1989 in a long-term effort to improve public education in Texas. It named 254 schools state-wide which is 4% of all the schools. There are 13 high schools, 35 middle and 206 elementary schools on the list. They only look at commended scores and the school had to have at least 20% of students score commended on all tests and they had to show improvement from 2008. Demographics are somehow part of the equation, too.

"Commended" is equivalent to receiving on "A" on the TAKS test.
