2008-2009 Percentage of Students Attending Out of State Colleges and Universities

This was in today's The Dallas Morning News under the headline "Richer districts send more kids out of state to college". Also of interest, the article stated that 70 graduates from Highland Park High went to UT-Austin which is a lot considering most students who get into UT-Austin are admitted under the top 8% rule (it might have still been top 10% in the 08-09 school year from when this data is taken). Highland Park sent over 14% of its class to UT-Austin, so many are being admitted outside of the top 10% rule (now top 8%).

2009-2010 Percent of AP Exams Passed by Dallas area High Schools

This is from the Texas Education Agency website. This is the percent of AP exams that received a "passing" score of 3, 4 or 5 taken by 11th and 12th graders at area high schools. Since a student can take more than one AP exam, it is not the percent of students who received a passing score. This is just looking at the total number of exams taken no matter if a student took one exam of four exams.

The second number is the percent of the 11th and 12th graders in the school who sat for at least one AP exam, no matter if they passed or not. This might be a good way to see what percentage of 11th and 12th graders at a school are taking at least one AP class.

For example for the first one, 33.2% of Marcus' 11th and 12th graders took at least one AP exams. Out of all the exams taken at Marcus by those 33.2% of students, 85.2% received a score considered to be passing.
